On the 1st of Jan the Noro Virus hit, and 7 days later I still have little interest in food. I have been trying bananas and cauliflower etc, bland foods and they seem ok. However what I am jonesing for is some potato. Dauphinoise, or wedges, or mash, or any potato-based derivative. I am salivating at the prospect which is an interesting feeling when the rest of your body is almost shaking with nausea ![:) :)](https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/resources/emoji/smile.png)
This is particularly unusual, as I have never been a fan of the potato. Ocassionally i will crave some mash or bubble and squeak, but it isn't a regular staple. What could my body be low in to crave such a spike in starch? My husband had some chips yesterday and i grabbed a couple. It was nirvana![:) :)](https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/resources/emoji/smile.png)
If I can figure out why I am craving potato, i can substitute. Thanks all!

Have the potato...in moderation0

I should add My body doesn't deal with potato very well, it screws with my sugars, so potato, even in moderation is a last resort.0

I am a firm believer that you body knows what it needs after being really sick, and the answer is to give it some. An example - I had food poisoning once, and the very next morning all I could bear to eat was sour pickles. Go figure, but they were all I could think about, made my mouth water and I ate half a jar. After that, I felt much better. go for a small potato and see how you feel.0
