anyone have those shake weight dumbells?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shake-Weight-Womens-Toning-Dumbell/dp/B005D748Z8/ref=pd_sim_sg_1

I'm wondering if they would be more useful for me as I have more restricted range of motion, and wouldn't have to worry about having to lift them so high and dropping them on myself?

Do I need two or just do it with one arm first then the other? I was thinking could do with legs too if I put it behind knee as I was sat on them (kneeling on a rug) so it would tone legs and possibly butt too?

Haha, yeah?! I'm not sure if you know what the dumbell is, but it doesn't shake on it's own...it's not powered by anything except yourself. You actually have to do the shaking yourself so I don't think sitting on them would do anything besides be uncomfortable, lol. I've heard a lot of people were disappointed with the product. But if you cannot lift above your head, I'm sure it would help in toning your arms...better than nothing!

I got one from my step-mom for Christmas one year. I then re-gifted it to her the next year - never used it. I prefer the gym and some real work.

Do what motivates you to perform the resistance exercise.
The best workouts are those we do - not theorize about doing, so give it a try.

I do a lot of strange things for both cardio and resistance, and on paper, I'll bet a personal trainer could replace some of these with superior exercises that are worthless, because I just won't do them.

You do what will get you moving and let us know how this works for you.

at the end of the day as long as you are doing SOME exersice it's gotta be a good thing right so if its the shakey weight you use do it!
alot of people moan about people using the wii workouts but the way i see it is if you raise your pulse rate quite a bit for a decent period of time it is exersice!
so go ahead it's gotta be good for ya!

oh... lol!.. sorry I thought it was meant to vibrate like one of those vibration plates you see people standing on to jiggle their fat off!

that's why I thought if you sat on it whilst it was vibrating it would tone your legs too.. lol! so you just shake them yourself with your hands?

I have some 2lb weights came with a wii fit exercise kit (with mat, water bottle etc) but feel ready to move up to 5lb and saw these.

Looking for DVD's that are mainly floor exercises or have exercises that can be adapted to do from sitting instead of standing?

also would a DVD designed for post-pregnancy weight work if all your weight is around tummy? (but not from being pregnant!)

    Thanks

Actually, they are NOT "better than nothing".

    "Nothing" doesn't rip you off.

Use a Free Flexor in one hand and a Shake Weight in the other. If you have a husband or boyfriend, he will appreciate you practicing so religiously.

    You are welcome.
  • Buy some resistance bands. They are cheap and are awesome for strength training and increasing range of motion safely. Also you don't have to worry about dropping them on any extremities. :)
  • I bought a shake weight... Its not all its cracked up to be... and its a lot of work! I now use free weights for my arms, it is fun to play with if you are just sitting down and you do feel the pull and get tired out by doing it, I just like to annoy my family with it when they are watching a movie since they never let me watch one in peace :0)
