Chemical Free Cleaning

I did a quick search & found no topics on this, so I was wondering...
Does anybody do household cleaning with non-chemical things? I have a slow drain & googled "chemical-free" and they suggested baking soda & vinegar. Has anyone used this?
Also, peroxide for disinfecting the kitchen & pretty much everything! I do use ammonia & hot water for cleaning my windows & boy do they shine! :glasses:
Just curious for feedback. Not so much for the Green thing, although that's a bonus, but I have a tight budget & cleaning products are expensive & I don't really like to expose myself (and the dog!) to them if I can help it!
Thanx!

I love the "steam mop" I got for the ceramic tile and wood floors (no carpet in the house). My guy has breathing issues and allergies, the usual floor cleaning products cause bronchial irritation for him. I think it was less than $50. It really takes up the gunk, including old wax on the tile (not so well on the grout). If there are "heel marks" on the floor I just rub them with an orange or grapefruit peel and they come right up. I know they have steamers for other surfaces too...might be something to look into.
As for a slow drain, I usually fill every large pot I have with water and boil it on the stove. Then I dump them one right after the other down the drain as fast as it will drain. By the end of the 4th pot of water it is draining much better. I had to do this 3-4 times in a row when we first moved in, I think the previous occupants poured hot grease down the drain and it solidified. If the pipes are really plugged, if you can get at them, and are comfortable doing it, take the "S" or elbows out under the sink and clean them out outside with a stiff bottle brush, or get the "snake" attatchment for an electric drill. The only thing I use "Draino" type products on is the tub...I have long hair and when I am in "shed mode" it really pluggs it up even using a drain strainer.0 -

I've seen them! Wondered if they were any good. Thanx.
I have a little "snake" thing I got at Home Depot, that I LOVE! I have to use it in my bathroom sink drain, for some reason that clogs alot with hair. Always amazed how much hair gets stuck on the stopper thing!
My tub drain did not have a grate when I moved in (old house) I have always had drain problems. I used EVERYTHING on the market without much lasting effect. One day I mentioned it to my friend & he asked about plunging, which I said I do regularly. Well he went nuts plunging & guess what! A shampoo lid surfaced! Ever since then it's been great, 'cept for the usual stuff.
Oh, and the "searching" I did was on MFP, not on the internet! Lately if you post something that someone else has, people get all snarky! LOL The net is filled with all sorts of webs, but just wondered if anyone actually uses that stuff & with what results!0
