Hello MFP's!
I have been on my weight loss journey since November 10th, and over the past two months my weight loss has been following a pattern, One week I will lose, the next I gain. My gains have been between 1-5lbs and my losses between 3-8lbs. I do not understand my body!

1) Is this happening to anyone else?

2) Any tips to have consistent losses?

Thank you!

Sometimes I have weeks where I gain.

The weight usually comes off quickly at first. You get really happy, but then your body adjusts and the weight loss slows a little.

If I had to suggest anything:

Try to cook your own food more often. Looks like you eat restaurant meals fairly often.

Find ways to build more muscle and burn more calories. Get your body working more efficiently.

    Watch sodium.

Pay attention to how your body feels after eating certain foods. Does something make you bloated or "unregular"? Feed your body for efficiency - clean healthy foods.

Start taking your measurements, they can change even though weight does not.

Keep it up, you are doing well. 20+ pounds lost is awesome.

well some fluctuations are normal-- water retention and such. Is your overall trend still going down? If so try not to sweat it.

Also, muscle weighs more than fat. I know that when swim season starts, I lose pounds, but then gain them back a few days later. However I lose INCHES.

A very good idea of your progress would be weighing yourself once or twice a week, but relying on what your measurements say a bit more. For example, I'm 180 lbs with a 29" waist. My BMI says I'm "overweight", but I am very muscular and fit into Mediums and Smalls. So an even better way to gauge fat loss would be to take your measurements. Try not to be discouraged if your weight or waist measures are higher during "that week" of the month. You retain more water, making you bloated. With that being said, it's not an excuse to pig out during those days.

Your under your calorie intake, drinking plently of water to flush out the sodium. Not sure if it's only sodium that's causing the 1 lb difference. I understand how frustrating 1 lb can be but if your hitting your daily goals thats what you should really focus on. If you need to figure out what is up, please see a Dr. Everyone's body is different. I know for me cutting out white flour, corn, banannas, potatoes, corn sryup, white sugar, alcohol, caffine has help my body to start losing weight. I barely make time for excersizing so I'm still losing weight so far. It's not easy at first but eatting healthy is great. I know your commit to this and your doing great! We all have ups and downs, lets work out hard and get results!! 8D

I know it must feel like you're on a rollercoaster but you really are doing great! According to your ticker you've lost 23 pounds in the last 8 weeks... That's an average of over 2.5 pounds per week! Your weekly fluctuations may be due to sodium, TOM, or any other number of things... But the important thing is that you are dedicated and you are losing at a very decent rate! Hang in there :flowerforyou:

You are probably so right... My lifestlye calls for a lot of on the go eating and if I want to "get off the rollercoaster" I should pack a lunch and cook more :( I just hate that everything has sooo much salt because I don't ever use salt (on purpose)

Does anyone know of good low sodium products?

If you check Reduced fat labels they tend to be lower in calories but higher in sodium. Unfortunately looks like you must make your meals. On the bright side you can control the salt!
