Did both. I like P90X waaaay more.
P90X:
Tony Horton is more entertaining than Sean T
Workouts are more sustainable, and easier to modify if needed
More variety
Better muscle definition
Requires had weights or bands and pullup bar
INSANITY
Better cardio burn
No equipment needed
Not as good muscle definition
For me personally, not as much weight loss
Definitely harder workouts, I felt almost sick towards the end, even after 60 days
I'm not a fan of Sean T, I don't like the military-style of someone yelling at you to do more.
Both are good, but I've started P90X six times, and only did Insanity once.0 -

I find it funny Sean T is so military in Insanity because in my Hip Hop Ab workouts he is almost hilariously funny. In addition, he is quite feminine and makes me wonder if he likes men the way I do with some of the things he says! He cracks me up and keeps me motivated in the Hip Hop Abs DVDs no problem. I think Insanity would be WAY weird for me. :P0 -
I think it depends on what you are looking for.
I did both. I find Sean T more entertaining than Tony Horton. Tony's voice bores the heck out of me for some reason. P90X involves using weights, chin-up bars, exercise bands, etc. I prefer the simplicity of Insanity. I couldn't finish P90X because it was so boring. but I finished Insanity and keep going back to Insanity when I need to work out from home. My husband likes both equally.

I haven't done P90x, but I've done Insanity twice and REALLY want The Asylum! I love it! It is a total butt kicking workout. I have no problem modifying things if I need to, and Shaun T's "yelling" actually pushes me more than if it were some peppy cheerleader. When he's up there panting and sweating yelling "PUSH! PUSH!", it makes me want to really bust it out! I love it!
Edit: I lost 10 pounds during my first round as well.0 -
Ive got my before and after p90x photos on my profile, it was fantastic for me. May consider doing insanity after my nephew is done with it. Open to friend requests0
