How Would You Do This?

If you were me, with my schedule what would you do?

-I go to school everyday of the week, except for the weekends.
-I have turbo jam and Michael Jackson: The experience.
-I take everyday fitness at school, but so far it's been some weight training and nothing quite strenuous (but we just started this week, so I don't know, our gym instructor seems serious about us pushing ourselves...).
-I'm always getting a ton of homework and projects and it's hard to fit in exercise, and I don't want to exercise in the morning because I'm already forced to wake up at six.
-However I don't care and I'll do it after school anyways!

What's a good way to organize this hot mess!?!

I'd like to help, but I'm not sure what you're asking.

Sounds like weekends and after school are your options. I hate getting up in the morning, so I won't get up early to workout. I have an 8-4:30 job, so I go to the gym or for a run, or whatever I decide to do that day, after work, and on the weekends. GL!

During fitness class, anytime you're standing around do some jumping jacks or run laps. That's time allotted to be physical, might as well use it. You'd get some brownie points with your instructor I bet.

It takes 20 mins a day to have an effective workout.
    Whats the problem?

Wake up 20 mins early and hit the weights.
The next day wake up 20 mins early and run for 20 mins.
    Rest!
    Rinse and repeat!

I recommend mornings because working out in a fasted state has shown to burn calories more efficiently and since you keep it around 20 mins you should have plenty of energy to be effective.

Anything more than that is wasted time unless you are heavy training for an event.

    The End

Wasted time? Time spend exercising is never wasted time. Especially if you have fat to burn. 20mins is about minimum and not everyone wants to do the minimum amount of work to get healthy. Thats really awesome if it works for you, but I don't think its good to tell people that anything more is a waste of time.

You will have to figure out what works for you! What kind of exercising to you prefer? Are you a runner? Do you like to do DVDs? What time do you get done with school everyday? What other kinds of obligations do you have?

OP, I guess the problem people are having in telling you what you want to know is that you don't really seem to have a problem.

Assuming you're home by 6pm you could have a workout finished and be showered and refreshed by 7pm, giving you the rest of the evening for dinner, studying etc.

What exactly is the problem? Loads of people have full schedules but still time find to exercise. Look at your schedule and MAKE the time.

Sorry if this seems rude; that's not my intention. It's just that you seem to be saying you can't, but you haven't given any reason why not.

Does your 20 minutes include warmup and cooldown? I'd take a good 5 minutes minimum to warm up (especially if you're doing it in the morning from sleep!) and another 3 or 4 minutes to cooldown. That only leaves 11 or 12 minutes? For weight training, that sounds like 3 sets of one movement. That can't be right for an effective workout? I'd want 3 movements for one muscle group and I'd usually like to hit 2 or 3 muscle groups in one workout.
  • How far do you live from work/school? Would walking/running be an option? that would be a good way to start, otherwise i would say, even if you don't want to - wake up early and get an hour in before class... it might suck, but when you start losing the weight it will be worth it ;)
