core exercise?

so, i've been placed on a diet by my endocrinologist (well, the dietician, actually) that is essentially a bit of a modified version of the protein sparing modified fast. while i am allowed to eat 150 g of carbs per day (not including veggies), i need to eat about 100 g of protein a day. i am also on a low dose of Metformin. according to the endocrinologist, he wants me on this diet until i lose around 75 lbs and then he'll taper me off of it. however, this diet is supposed to cause pretty rapid weight loss (almost 10 lbs this week alone) and i'm kind of worried about loose skin, particularly in the belly area. any tips? should i increase the core strengthening exercises? i'll certainly ask again when i see him, but that won't be until next month. thanks!
