Bench Press and Pull-ups

I have a question on bench pressing and pull-ups. I need to be able to bench press my body weight 10 times and do 10 pull-ups. At the moment I cannot do any pull-ups and as for the bench press I will find out tomorrow ( I think the last time I tried I could only do about half my weight). Any tips or recommendations on helping me achieve this goal?

I would most definitely start out doing negatives on pull-ups to build your strength. I could not do any when I first started at the military academy and now I am able to do around 15. As far as bench, I think push-ups helps a great deal with bench. The only thing is just doing them in my opinion. The more you do the bench and pull-ups the stronger you will get. I hope I could help somewhat. By the way, a negative on a pull-up is just using a chair or buddy to push you up to the bar, and you come down as slow as you can (try to make it as long as possible)0
