What do I eat to lose weight?

Dumb question I know. But I've tried so many things. Started over again this year and the first week- no weight loss. In fact I gained a pound counting calories. So what should I eat. Those of you who are successful at this what do you eat?
PS I use measuring cups, spoons and a scale for every meal. Sits right there on the counter at all times.

I mean, it's a pretty consistent answer across the board--- Eat mostly vegetables and greens, then lean protein, then fruit/whole grain carbs and lots of water.0

eat less. that's all. doesn't matter what you eat. if you want to feel full and end up eating less, i would recommend lots of vegetables and (fewer) fruits than veggies, just because of the sugar--some fruits are pretty high in calories. also, MEASURE your servings. you are probably underestimating your calorie intake. i did that for a long time when i first started and gained 15lbs my freshman year of college. i've lost it all now because i was stricter about my calorie counting.0

I eat whatever I want, so long as it stays under my calorie limit.
If you gained weight, maybe try eating less sugar/sodium?0 -

I'd say the same. 2 weeks isn't really long enough to see whether it is working - this is a marathon not a sprint.0 -
I start my day with a Special K 90 calorie breakfast bar, then at lunch I have one of those Heathy Choice or Smart One Lunches, I choose one that is between 200 and 300 calories. For a snack between Lunch and Dinner I have a piece of fruit. Then I have some sort of healthy dinner. i control my portions and don't eat until I'm full, I eat until I'm not hungry. Learning the difference is really important. Also, everyday I find some sort of workout to do, whether it's walking or an elliptical, you should find something to burn calories. I have done this for 7 days now and I have lost 4 pounds.0

Veggies - check the sugar contents in the vegetable - peas, carrots, corn, they all have more sugars than others. Try leafy greens, in all varieties, and cauliflower and othe fiber rich (vitamin rich) veggies. I eat 5 cups of salad with a bit of dressing (less than 2 Tbs) at nearly every meal.
Yes, a calorie deficit will equal weight loss, but you can do much to feel full without eating too many calories!0 -
I've lost 3 lbs my first week. I simply cut out most sugars and calorie counted everything that entered my mouth.
I weigh EVERYTHING. If it calls for a cup, 3 oz, etc per serving ... I weigh it!
A normal day consists of Fiber One cereal, some kind of fruit for a snack, a sandwich with a pickle for lunch & either chicken or fish for dinner with plenty of veggies!!. There are plenty of healthy chicken recipes out there so I won't get bored eating it.
If I want some kind of dessert after dinner, I'll eat some sugar-free jello, but that's rare considering I am full from dinner.0 -
Normally when I get back into "diet mode", I find that I gain more before I start to lose it. Don't lose hope! It took me about a week until I started seeing ANY results.
My daily diet, usually consists of egg white omelets for breakfast (then use the yolks to make your own mayonnaise!), a lean turkey or roast beef sandwich, no cheese on wheat bread - and tilapia or chicken breasts for dinner. Snack on baby carrots or fruit all day to cringe your cravings.0
