good luck, I know how hard those post -preg. pounds can be. my 2nd girl added 60lbs to my body. it took me the first yr to shed 50, and I just never got those last 10 off before i quit smoking again and gained another 10lbs to myself. so now after almost 3yrs, I am on my way to pre -preg weight and this site has made all the difference in the world. I am 5lbs closer to my goal and i have no doubt I'll reach it before summer. So good luck with your new baby and your journey, remember it took 9 months to put it on so it could take 9 mon. to take it off. make sure to talk with your Dr. about what is healthy for you and your new little one. "you need more calories if your breast feeding" and your burning more too.:flowerforyou:

thanks for the advice! i know it is going to take time to lose what took a while to gain, but must admit i am impatient. i quit smoking when i found out i was pregnant, and ate a lot out of stress and boredom, so i gained more than i wanted to. have started smoking occasionally again ( i know, its terrible) but it helps me ignore my food cravings. i need some healthier alternatives, because i want to be thin AND healthy for myself and my beautiful baby girl...

I did the same thing with the smoking" it's like we are the same person" I finally used the Commit lozenges to help me finally quit for good. they are the best aid ever. I really new I had to quit, but didn't want to, and so I tried them and it worked without much pain at all. I am now happy to be a non-smoker-"most of the time" I won't lie I think about it and wish I could, but I just know I can't. It's like losing weight, it's something I have to think about and deal with everyday, but it's worth it.
For healthy alternatives, I use gum, "never been much of gum chewer, but I am now" and you should be able to eat small portions throughout the day to help with the cravings. I also like carrots, fiber One bars, skinny cow ice cream teats most are really good, and wandering around all the threads on this website help to keep me motivated , informed and always thinking of my goal.
Just remember to be kind to yourself, just make up your mind to do it and you will. good luck. I'll see you over at the motivation and support thread. if you want to talk about anything, feel free to look me up.

Thanks again :) it's nice to hear a success story. Quiting seems impossible sometimes - i can't believe i started up again! I would love to try some of the new drugs like chantix to help me stop, but so many of them are not recomended for breastfeeding moms. I find dessert helps disract me though, i will have to try your ice cream suggestion!

    try them, you'll like them.
ask your Dr. about the commit, I swear by it, to me it has all the benefits of smoking without the toxic chemicals.I started with a half o tab 5-7 times a day, and in 3 weeks I was down to 2 or 3 and then just said no more, never felt physical withdrawls, it was great. also, my husband quit 6 days before me and he had the exact same experience. so see, I held on for 6 days longer than him not wanting to give it up, and when I did I was amazed at how easy it was. I have quit cold turkey, hypnosis and the gum, this was the easiest of all those options. Also, I had been, "almost wrote have been," a smoker for 28yrs and loved every min. of it, so really ,give it some thought, if I can do it anyone can. so nothing to lose if you try, but ask your Dr. first of course. good luck
