measuring inches lost

((I think this is in the right place.))
I want to start measuring my inches, but am not 100% sure how to go about it.
What parts of the body should I measure, and where? What should I use to measure?
How often should I measure?
Should I measure with clothes on or without?
I've heard that a lot of the time people see more results in inches rather than in pounds, long term at least, and I'm wanting to start keeping track of this. I feel like seeing inches go away along with the pounds will help!
Do any of you keep track of inches and did you find it to be inspiring or worth it?
