Vacation and dieting

Anybody else trying to lose weight for an upcoming vacation?
I've often done this type of thing in order to "look good" for a trip. But I usually have found that it psyches me out too much and isn't very effective.
I'm going to Cancun in February, and I'm working a little harder on my diet than I have been for the past few months (only lost 5 pounds from November-December) and my vacation is the motivation. Im not really thinking about looking good in my bathing suit though.... I just want to compensate for the fact that I'm going to be laying on a beach chair all day, eating at all inclusive buffets and drinking beer all day hahaha. The average person gains 7 pounds on an all-inclusive vacation! Yikes. It's happened to me many times before. I'm going to try and make better decisions though this time while on vacation. I think i'm in a better place and mindset to not go crazy at the buffet. I'm going to follow this golden rule: only fill one plate at the buffet! on previous vacations I've filled two sometimes even three. AH.
So I guess my concerns are... minimizing weight gain during vacation haha. and losing some weight before the trip isn't a bad thought either either way though, even if i GAINED weight before my vacation i'm happy. because i am significantly smaller than I was on my beach vacation this time last year. and it's going to be a much more pleasant experience just because of that. so i'm happy

Cancun is amazing! i went there for my honeymoon and honestly, didn't really gain that much - maybe a couple pounds and it fell right off when i got home. i did lots of walking and swimming though, so maybe that's why. have fun!!0

I've been to Cancun before. BEST tropical vacation spot in my opinion. so happy to go back.
That's good that you can responsible... lol congrats. My problem is it's hard to not be extreme when you're in a place of relaxation and unlimited food and drinks. did you find alot of temptation to indulge? or was it easier for you0
