Scenario:
You enter the gym, motivated as hell, and the nice person at the front counter just honored your membership followed by the other famous three words “Enjoy your workout!”
Let’s fast forward past the locker room, and pre-workout supplements. As you approach the cardio area headed for your favorite piece of cardio equipment, you let out a sigh of relief noticing that there is one left. “Out Of Order, your patience is appreciated” reads a sign taped over the digital interface of the equipment. So now you find yourself looking around slightly puzzled and disappointed.
Well you managed to get your warm up on some other miscellaneous machine, and you’re ready for some real fitness training. You’ve already know you’re doing shoulders because it’s Shoulder Day. You move towards your favorite area to work the delts, but, maybe it’s too crowded, or the equipment is unavailable, so you find yourself scratching your head all over again.
Point is that your gym period should not be used as the time to plan out your day’s routine. We see it all the time and it’s a pet-peeve to most when your station is being hawked by a loiterer who wishes to use the same equipment, but prefers to standby until you’re complete. This leads to agitation and breaks the focus of the person using the equipment.
In order to approach a successful satisfactory gym session, it is very much important to be planned out to the “T” ahead of time. Keep yourself open minded and continue educating yourself in other methods to attack your target areas, and at no time by any means should you rely on the same piece of equipment for attempting to reach your goals.
Be flexible. You already have gym experience, and you should become familiar with the layout. In that instant moment that you notice your machine/equipment/station is already in use, you must than IMMEDIATELY redirect towards your preplanned secondary option! Hence KEEP MOVING, You already picked up a good rhythm backed with tons of motivation and momentum. You are a Runaway Train. If you stop that train dead in its tracks you might not get that same energy back again.
I understand we all have our favorites, but there are 101 ways to do everything. I can spot all these people out on a daily bases. when you notice a person pacing around and passes you twice trying to find an area to work. This person is already having a so-so gym day.
So to all the newer folks starting out, I encourage you to have a slamming well thought out hardcore burning gym session packed with excellent contingency plans, and no nonsense distractions.
Good luck to you all out there. Keep your hat brim low and your music loud if it helps.
New pals always welcomed, send request.
