yesterday was one of those days where you just want to hide under a rock and bawl your eyes out. my step-son is bipolar, (5 yrs old) and i got a call from the teacher to come pick him up, he was having a melt-down. that was jsut the start of the day... so i get him, get him home and calmed down, things were starting to perk back up... when all of a sudden my mother calls histerical. her beloved dog who she has has for about 17 yrs got hit by a car, could i please take her to the vet, mom didnt think it safe to drive when she was so upset. so i pack up the 5 yr old (who is now flipping out again), my 3 yr old daughter, and 3 month old daughter, and now a scared, hurt dog to the vet, who ultimately had to be put down. on the way home from the vet my husband calls.... hevlew out his knee at work, was at the local orthopedic clinic with his boss. after an mri they decided it was a torn miniscus (sp?). it was just overall a horrible day. now with my husband not working and having to start workman's comp proceedings we will more than likely be stretched tighter financially. (i stay at home with the kids, no income there to speak of). and the icing on the cake? its TOM! so.....

long story short, i just fixed up some corn dogs and fries for supper. i wasn't spending a lot of time in the kitchen, i was exhausted. i splurged. i ate a corn dog, small serving of fries, then topped it off with a huge huge huge salad. i didnt work out even 10 minutes for the day. for lunch i sneaked a quick piece of pizza, but my breakfast and snacks were healthy. after supper i (gasp) ate an entire apple turnover. im on a 1200 cal diet... but i ate about 1650. so....

my question is: do i need to double up on workouts today to compensate? i know my diet will be back on track today. i got up early, i needed to blow off steam, and did my 50 min tae-bo, but i went full force! (and feel better). should i workout harder today? or not stress too much? its the first time in about 2 months i have had a crappy diet day.

thanks guys!

You had a horrbile day yesterday, don't stress about what or how much you ate!! Be kind to yourself...it is one less thing for you to worry about. Today is a new day and you did a great job of moving on with a kick butt workout! Good for you! :flowerforyou:
I am sorry to hear about everything you went through yesterday. I hope things look up for you soon!

chock it up to a bad day and move on. we all have them and really, 1650 isn't too bad. When I overdo it... I REALLY overdo it :blushing:

I agree with Kerri. MFP builds in a 500-1000 calorie deficit (depending on what your goals are), so really, you just ate your "maintain" calories yesterday.

Sorry to hear about your bad day. I really think you shouldn't stress about the 1650 calories. There have been days where I've "accidentally" eaten 3000 or more... and I'm still alive!

 hugs to you. what a horrendous day! i'm so sorry you had all that yukky stuff. don't worry about the food/diet/exercise from yesterday. some days are just about survival. just do your best to get in a bit of exercise today (more for your mind than anything) and eat easy healthy choices (like eggs, applesauce, carrots, raisins, nuts) so that you don't have to focus on cooking anything complicated. again, i'm so sorry for all that you have going on right now. sending ~~stay strong vibes~~.

I wouldn't be surprised if you lose weight. It wouldn't hurt your body to eat a bit more cals especially after a stressful day, you probably burnt off more cals than you think...:drinker: Don't kill yourself today either, you had a crappy day yesterday! 1200 cals is hard to stick by, unless you eat exercise cals. Take care of yourself and family, thinking of you-Kath:heart:
