Getting back to logging

OK, I am 42 years old, 5 ft, 7 inches tall and stepped on the scale this morning and decided I really need to log my calories(everything!!!). I did not like what the scale said(166 pounds). UGH! I started 30 day shred about 12 days ago and like how I feel after the workouts. I have been a gym person for the past few years, but decided to try something different. I am not overly obese, obviously, but really want to shred about 10-15 pounds. Getting older makes it so much harder! Any advice? I have read so many books that say give up carbs(which I could never do). Any words of encouragement would be helpful to me!
