Ladies - How do we deal with "The Bloat"

I just realized that I started this new fantastic journey the week before Aunt Flo is about to show up. How do you all handle the fun of being a woman while trying to lose weight? It can be frustrating (I don't eat lots of salt but i gain a lot in water regardless). How do you stay motivated when all you want to do is eat chocolate, cry and kill someone??

I have done this (MFP) and other tracking methods for roughly 6 years now. It is the one, consistant, thing I see each month! I can see a variation of up to 5 lbs! I have enough history with this to know that's how it's going to be, so I just remind myself that once my period is over, not only will the 5 or so lbs come back off, but I'll also see a few more come off that I have burned during that week and just haven't been able to see reflected on the scale yet! It's WAY fun to see a drop of 7-8 lbs afterwards (even if 5 is water), so just focus on that. I know some people who track their cycles and simplly stop weighing themselves the week before and don't weigh again until it's over. I'm a daily-weigher, though, so I just can't do that!0

Regular exercise has been my fix. I didn't believe it at first, but it's completely altered my mood. I spend my TOM happy, energetic and have yet to murder anyone. As for the chocolate cravings, I indulge just a bit, ... just enough to satisfy and I make sure I stay within my calorie goal.
Oh and Midol Complete is a godsend! I use it the first day or so to deal with the bloating/cramps.0 -
I allow myself to go over my calories, but with healthy foods. I usually eat lots of fruits around that week because of the sweetness. If I do have chocolate or candy, it's one fun size bar. I also (usually) skip weighing myself. I know the scale will go up because of bloating and I don't want to see it and get discouraged. I've noticed that if I stick to eating healthy and keep my workouts going, the next time aunt flo comes, the bloating is less and the cravings are smaller.0

I just work extra hard and try to be good, and look forward to seeing a HUGE drop when it's over. I generally only gain 2 to 3 lbs, so if I drop 4 or 5 when it's over, I get really excited. Haha0
