Do you tend to weigh more around your menstrual cycle? I wasn't sure when mine was going to come but it showed this morning! I usually get a tad bit bloated right before I get it so I am wondering if when I weighed myself yesterday I could of been a bit more then I really am since it was the day before my period showed.

Thank you!! I was not expecting my period today, I knew she was on her way but not exactly sure when so I weighed myself yesterday and I was 135. at the beginning of the week I was 137 so I was happy I lost but this may of not been accurate, maybe I lost more? I guess we will see in a few days! lol

Just an fyi...my doctor told me women can gain btwn 1-5lbs when they are PMSing or have their period, this is not weight you have necessarily gained, and should come off at the end of your cycle.

your period really throws ur body off, did u know that everything hurts a little more just before ur period as well? Whether its a new tattoo or waxing ur eyebrows, ur supposed to wait a week after ur period or ur body is more sensitive to the pain.

1 - 5 pounds, I knew we retained water during that time but it does make some sense.

I know that it cost me during the weigh in at work for a weight losing contest, the girl I was talking too did not understand or you would think she would.

I've been known to gain anywhere from 8 to 13 pounds...my friends all thought I was full of it, until I showed them my weight (logged on a computerized thingie called virginhealthmiles.com)...

Now I just try to stay away from the scale one week before and the week during. :flowerforyou:

I usually don't gain, but I don't lose right before hand and as soon as it comes I lose 1-2lbs.

Wow I was wondering the same thing. This morning I was suprised two days early. I have noticed that my cycle keeps changing now that I exercise and eat healthier, is that to be expected?

Yes you can gain weight before your period. Some women have huge fluctuations and others only lb or two and some have no issue with weight gain at all. You can tell when you are retaining fluid by feeling bloated or uncomfortable.

My periods were very irregular until I was in my 30's. As nice as it might sound to some to only have a period 2-3 times per year, it was not easy to recognize symptoms as easily as it is now.

Try to track your cycle. Make notes on days you feel bloated in your food log. Also note days that you may feel like you just can't eat enough or that you don't want to eat at all and start to check those notes against your cycle and see if you notice a pattern.

doing this will help you understand and recognize the signals your body is sending you to prepare for whats coming. I can say before I started to really pay attention I would gain as much as 10lbs and now it is only a 1-2 lbs difference and I know NOT to weigh in for the 10 days prior to my cycle starting.
