I know taking protein or whey can help you gain weight (muscle), is it a good idea if I want to lose weight (while still toning up)??

What are some good things to take to help my body while I try to lose weight. Or just be au natural? lol

Only if you can't reach your macronutritional goals through solid foods.
  • A daily multi-vitamin is a must. Since you are consuming less calories, your body is more likely to not get all the nutrients that it needs. So consuming a multi-vitamin once a day will help offset this.

As far as whey protein goes, I use Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein from Wal-Mart ($15 per 2lb jug). Whey Protein is a great benefit because you are going to have microscopic tears in your muscle fibers, which will heal and grow over time. WP is just a supplement that will advance the recovery time of your muscles with other added pluses (depending on whats in the formula).

Whey protein though is completely optional, but it has helped me to retain my strength during lifting while losing weight.
