So I'm sure most of you don't have this problem but I do and it's really annoying.
My feet are large, size 17. I'm guessing the treadmill manufacturers didn't test out equipment on people my size. Sometimes, on most machines I've run across (ha) if I get the speed up over 6.0MPH and start running the treadmill will literally "stick" and the belt will stop in place. If you've never had this happen it is quite an awkward experience. I usually have to grab the handle bars or the machine to keep myself from smashing into the front of the treadmill as my whole body lunges forward due to the momentum.
So for now I stick to the elliptical or just 4.5-5.0mph walking on the treadmill or running outside.. seems to keep my HR up w/o risk of major injury.
Not sure the point of this post but thought I'd share

That sounds as though the belt is slipping, it needs to be tightened up.0
