So this week has really sucked for me. I had kidney stones so I was off work resting for a day and my computer was in the shop so I didn't log my food.... I ate nothing but crap b/c I was feeling sorry for myself. I got on the scale today... 214.5! On Thursday I was 210. I know one day can't really make that big of a difference but wtf? So yesterday I was determined to shine. . . I played some hardcore raquetball for 40 minutes, swam laps for 20 minutes, had a nice brisk walk for 40 minutes and finished off witha 5 minute steam room... I am SORE today... but the scale has not budged.

I am like, obsessed with losing 2 lbs per week and I have been so far right up to my first 20 lost. Now I feel like I'm slowly inching towards the other end of the scale. Oy. I am eating within my daily calories though I will admit sometimes I'm not getting the calories from the best place (1 extra large double double is 280 calories and that is usually my breakfast on weekends). I'm beginning to see more clearly that maybe its not simple math (calories in vs calories out) and really...what it all boils down to is this: where are the calories coming from?

I agree that is also about where the calories come from. You have to look at the calorie to fat ratio. Something OK in calories could be horrible in fat grams.

It is weekend tradition for me to make a big breakfast for me and the hubby. That is our time together we don't get during the week. So, I slowly make some changes in the stuff I use so he does not notice it too much. I don't mess with his homemade pancakes, but the breakfast tacos, or the breakfast sandwich thing is something I can mess with.

I don't know what a "extra large double double" actually is, but is it something you can make yourself with better-for-you ingredients?

if you took that day off and ate crap, you probably took in a lot of sodium and therefore gained water weight. I'm willing to bet that if you wait a week then weigh again, you'll be back at 210 or lower. Just be patient.

lol an extra large double doule is coffee, with 2 creams and two sugars. Doesn't everyone call it that? Maybe it's a canadian thing :flowerforyou:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the elephant in the room seems to be that you were dealing with kidney stones. That's a result of a build up of calcium in your kidneys, right? Painful (so sorry, my heart goes out to you) and prevents the kidneys from filtering your blood properly. One splurge is not that big of a deal--the extra weight retention might be a result of exhausted kidneys.

    Water water water water water.

Drink water. Avoid all the foods that your Dr. tells you to (like caffeine, ahem). And don't forget that rest is sometimes what our bodies need to recover. :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
