Hello everyone. I'm new on here and was just wondering...exactly how much calories or fat is on chicken skin? Personally I CANNOT have any chicken without the skin on! I find chicken breasts extremely dry and hard to eat. Does anyone else have the same problem? Please help... Thanks..

    I heard that if you put gravy on your mashed potatos, that it cancels out the calories in the skin.

    If you look in the food database you can find the calorie count for most foods. For the chicken it will depend on the part you're eating (leg, thigh, breast, ect.) The database has with or without skin so you should be able to find what you need. Koosdel, I wish you were right! :D
  • I personally get grossed out eating the skin unless it's crispy but still dont eat it that because of the fat. But try buying frozen chicken tenderloins or fresh I suppose and boil them about 5 - 10 minutes. They are so juicy that my whole family loves it. I dont bake or grill my chicken as it does dry it out and yes I can't stand dry chicken. ")
  • I can't answer the calories question, but I used to think the same thing about chicken breast until I developed the knack for cooking it. If you cook it right it can be very moist in the center (while still being cooked through of course). Some good seasoning, and you are set.

    I still can't order chicken breast in most restaurants because it tends to taste like sawdust unless you are at a good enough restaurant that it is ridiculously overpriced (I'm not paying 12-15 dollars for chicken!).

    @Koosdel I wish....
    Thanks everyone...I will have to try and make some chicken breasts moist then... Although I just don't think I can do without the skin though :( I've always had the skin since I was a little girl.. ;(

    Thanks @knittnponder. I will definitely look it up in the food database.

    You can cook it with the skin and then just not eat the skin.

    That's just the problem!! I can't not eat the skin... I can't bear to strip it away. :(
