Hi everyone,

I'm going to start my first HIIT (“High Intensity Interval Training”) session tomorrow and I have a general question because I know everyone is different. How many mph do you consider sprinting (I'll be using the treadmill)? TIA

My sprint is 8 mph, but I am also just starting out.

The treadmills I'm on only go up to 10 mph but I always feel like I could go faster cause I can go for awhile at that, so I'd say like between 10 and 12, its however you feel though! Good luck

I'd time a quarter mile on the track first. I wouldn't want to risk injury.

    Don't forget to stretch.

here is what I was told to do........

the first time you get on test yourself.

start with a 5 min warm up and then increase by .5 until you are walking so fast you cant any longer. (this varies with each persons stride and fitness level)

then start jogging.....increasing the speed by .5 until you are winded.

This is your high intensity number.

If you have a HRM it is even better because you can work within your HR zones. When I get to 175 I know I am THERE!! I dont care what the number says on the treadmill!!

I found it easier to use the Eliptical to do the interval training. You can increase the resistance if your speed is as good as you like.

    Good luck to you!!! :blushing:
