Healthy Sodium Intake Levels

I have a question about taking in TOO LITTLE sodium. I know I can Google information about it, but I prefer to get responses from real people with possible experience. I also know that for the following question, it would be wise to go to my general doctor and have my blood tested for sodium levels. I plan to do this soon, but it's always nice to hear what others have to say since what doctors say is not always solid. Now onto my question:

I have consistently ingested <1000mg of sodium a day for the past 5 months. I work out a few days out of the week at most as of late (mentioning this since I get salt all over my skin after). Is this level of sodium intake bad for my body, or is it okay to average just under 1000mg every day?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out here :)

  • How much water are you drinking? Too little sodium + too much water = possible problems. It can greatly hinder absorption of precious minerals.

I drink >8 glasses of water a day and at least 6 cups of tea a day. I know tea is bad for mineral absorption as well. Eep...realizing things now....I guess just because I don't have symptoms I have "noticed" I have ignored these things.

That might be a good read for wanting someone who experienced problems! I'm not too much help, since I have yet to have troubles

Thanks, kind of explains why I do not retain any water weight anymore during my menstrual cycle.
  • I sure wouldn't have a problem with that :D When my sodium levels are really low I get dizzy spells occasionally. It could be from something else, but who knows! I try to bump up to the 1300-1500 mark
