Adopted a dog from the humane society today. He's a shepherd/husky mix, is fixed, and is six months old. His name is Aragon and the only thing he knows is sit. We already have a dog, she is a chocolate lab and her name is Laney. She is terrified of him, and and all he wants to do is mount her. I'm not sure what to do, or how to get her to be okay with him. Some people tell me to tell him no, and others tell me to let him do his thing. Has anyone else been in this situation? What'd you do? I am at a lost.. ):

this is dominate behavior in your new dog. It is NOT ok to allow. You, the owners are the bosses, not the dogs..either of them. To continue to allow this to happen can lead to other behavioral issues in both dogs.

I know this is cliched, but its true..you must be the pack leader. I have a greyhound and three cats. The order of the 'pack' in my household is humans first, cats second, dog last. We are the pack leaders as greyhounds are prey dogs, and with cats in the house we have to make sure to assert our leadership, so he wont harm the cats. This is not cruelty. We never yell at the dog or hit him. Its simple a state of mind. we are the boss. He must wait and sit for his food, he must be calm before he goes out to potty or a ride in the car, he is not allowed to jump on people, or run to the door when people come over.

seriously..he used to have really bad seperation anxiety when we rescued him from the track..now he is the perfect dog. We 'ceasered' him..the dog whisperer..
