New! Looking to find some motivation

I am trying to lose around 40 pounds. I have been on various diets and exercise plans since I was 16 and I am really hoping this one sticks. Looking to find some motivation. I also was wondering if anyone had any ideas on other core exercises besides crunches and sit ups?
