So I just started getting "serious" about drinking more water a few days ago- and I'm also trying really hard to cut back on my sodium intake.
So I am I so freakishly thirsty? For the first time in MONTHS, I am actually drinking water, enough water, that is and I'm parched! Only been a couple of days like this, so I doubt its diabetes or anything thus far.
Yesterday I drank 80 ounces and then was drinking more b/c of actual thirst!
Any idea what's going on?

    Hmm I'm not sure...
but be careful not to drink TOO much water and flush out your electrolytes...that can kill ya. =o/
  • Good job on drinking more water. That is awesome!
You might want to watch that. Your body has to adjust to how much water you are taking in and if you are causing yourself to be water-logged, then you will feel like you can't get enough water. Check to see if you are retaining water. Your skin will look purple-ish and then when you apply pressure to the skin, it will turn white and then back to the purple-ish color.
I would check out www.webmd.com for all of the latest information.

I have noticed that I am adding too much sodium to things which is bad because I dont want to retain water. I need to stop that. I was never one to add salt to this and that and I am not sure why lately I have been adding it liberally.
  • Check your sodium, and your exercise. Both of these could increase your thirst substantially.

I often drink 10 or 11 glasses of water between when I wake up and when I go to sleep. Not to mention

the 8 oz. I consume during the night. This is normal water consumption for me, and always has been.

I wouldn't worry yet. Good choice to switch!

Your body hold water in it's cells. Because it doesn't know when it will get more it hords it. Now for the first time you are getting as much water as you need, your body feels free to let go of it's reserve.
However it needs to remind you that you don't have anything in reserve so you need to keep the water coming.
The good news is all of that water is flushing toxins that your body has in it's cells also
  • I find that if I've eaten alot of sugar the previous day I'm very thirsty the next. Also spread the water out across the day, if you drink lots of water in the morning than none at night you wake up thirsty again and the whole thing starts over.
