Hi there MFP guys and gals! I'm pretty new to the site. Less than a week so far and I'm starting to get a good feel for it. I'm no stranger to tracking. I've done WW and I was on spark for a while. But this past year I did not meet any of my self-set goals (such as getting to my goal weight by my 40th birthday, which came and went in October - EEK!) and I UTTERLY lost focus, accountability, willpower, gumption, fire under the *kitten*...whatever you call it, I lost it.
So now it's 2012. I'm still 40, I still have unmet goals and unrealized expectations. There are things I want to be able to do and being a statistic in my more mature years is not one of them. I have an 8 year old spitfire that challenges me everyday. It kills me when I disappoint him, and that leads to a vicious cycle of self-loathing that perpetuates my disappointing him. I think it's time I said my "enough" and got on with it already.
That said, I need some help. I need some folks who can be an example or a shoulder or a drill sergeant or a reference manual when needed. I will do the same for you. I have my strengths and my weaknesses and I'm willing to share those unreservedly. I have about 20 or so pounds to get to goal weight. WW and Spark got me that far. I intend to build some muscle on the way...but I'm a little constrained as to how I can do it. I cannot go to a gym. I have TurboFire (LOVE) and Jillian's 30 Day Shred (She slays me) and I do a little running when the daylight is in my corner. I'm a single mom with an exasperating boyfriend who unintentionally makes me feel like a slug (perpetual fitness nut - active duty coast guard). I really need to get over that. :grumble:
So, what this book boils down to is I'm looking for some buddies!
Please add me and help me light a fire you know where!
Jenny

Hello friend! Wow you're 40?! You look amazing!! You have the perfect set up, an 8yr old and a healthy sgt. boyfriend-- why not try planning some workouts or active activites with them and make it fun family time along with the 30day shred. I do Insanity in the mornings and then turn on my www.pandora.com and dance for an hour to salsa music!! I LOVE it.
This site will help keep you accountable...just start adding friends, they will encourage you! (You're already mfp friend) thanks for the request!!!
You WILL get there this year! NO EXCUSE! :-) Meet ya at the top!0 -

Hi Friend!!
Thanks! I don't feel 40...I think that's important. We are starting to do more together. I couldn't really keep up with them before. We also have his 13 year old in the mix. We just took up snowboarding Saturday. My son and I did the learn how class and then he dusted me on the slopes lol! I got some bruising on the backside, but I've got butt armor on order so I should be good to go for the next time. Amazing workout and burn! I have a bodymedia and I was astounded at how much you can burn just um...well...falling a lot.
I'll check out mypandora! Thanks for the tip! See ya here! And thanks.0 -
