From what I understand, the average person's resting heart rate is about 72. The better your cardiovascular fitness, the lower it'll be, as your stronger heart doesn't have to pump as many times per minute to get the blood to course through your body.
Mine is typically in the 54-60 range, although it has dipped as low as the high 40s when I'm ridiculously relaxed.0 -
I wore my HRM to work for a day to see what kind of calories I'd burn at my sedentary job. My heart rate sitting at my desk was in the mid 60s0

mine is usually between 58-61 thats what its been in last few days anyway!
i dunno whats ideal but i know the healthier you get the lower it is :-)0 -
I wish I'd kept a record of mine, but I just took it now and it was 54.0

Had surgery a few months ago and the nurse measured my resting heart rate prior to the surgery. It was 49. I exercise a lot.0

I have tracked mine for about 6 months now and it averages 50 (although my lowest was 40.) My doctor says that it is a condition called Bradycardia (which I understand to be defined as a resting heart rate under 60.) There can be underlying medical conditions causing it, none of which I have. I have had testing for it and the doctors have said I have a normal sinus rhythm so they are not concerned although I have been told to let them know if I become light-headed or dizzy. I would suggest you get with your doctor just to make sure everything is okay.0

It outlines the differences for men and women and different ages.... There is no one size fits all when it comes to heart rate....
Mine is 63 - I'm 43 and according to the chart falls under "very fit" - 60-64 (which i would rather describe as "good fitness", not so sure about the "very"
For a guy my age, to be classified as very fit, his heart rate needs to be between 57 - 62....so huge difference...0 -
62 :bigsmile:0
