Anyone have any ideas on how to get good quick protein while avoiding sodium? Even the "healthy" lunchmeats are so HIGH in sodium...

Lunch meats are out of this world loaded with sodium! I have visited my local health food grocery store and have found some wonderful lunch meat alternatives that are soy based and have just a little bit of sodium. They are very tasty and come in flavors such as salami, bologna, candadian bacon. Great alternative to lunch meats and good protein source. Surprisingly, not that expensive either -- cheaper than lunch meat! I pay $2.19 for a package of salami. 1 serving is 4 pcs -- which I usually only use 2 and that is plenty on a sandwich and that pkg lasts me all work week if I use 2 vs. 4.

Another option is to just cook your own turkey or chicken and make homemade chicken salad or just use the meat in a sandwich.

Nutritional yeast is a complete protein. It tastes a lot like parmesan cheese.

I love it as a topping on my eggs, popcorn.....ect.

Actually, scrambled egg whites + spinach with nutritional yeast on top is a favorite light meal of mine and has a TON of protein.

You can also get grains that have protein in them. Try out quinoa, if you haven't already.
