I wondered if anyone has worn a calorie counter while doing Body Flow from Les Mills. How many calories is average?

I really don't want to tell you, for I don't want you to stop going to BodyFlow because of it. The great thing about that class is that it has so many benefits, besides burning calories, like improved strength, flexibility, better posture, relief of joint pain, peace of mind, etc.
However, I used to teach BodyFlow & the ladies in my class would average around 150 cal for the hour on their Polar HRM's. Because there are so many variables, some would be as low as 70, while others would be just over 200.
I'm sorry, if you were hoping for more.0 -
I love Bodyflow
And the previous poster is right - you will not burn as much as during cardio. But I usually burn between 350 and 400 during the class (I turn off my HRM before the final 10 minute relaxation section). Maybe I burn more because I'm pretty bad at yoga, but my HR definitely gets up during the standing strength and pilates sections.0 -
body flow is called Body Balance here in the UK, I have worn my hrm a few times and usually burn around 340 in a 45 min class (express class with no relaxation and usually no twist track)
I seem to work really hard, sweating from the sun salutations. no, it's not as much as a cardio class, but I think it's increased my overall fitness by a huge amount.0 -
I burn 375 to 400 calories during Flow. But the flow class I attend is right after a pump class, so my heart rate is already high. Flow does a great job of keeping it high for another hour. I work hard during the class. When I'm done with the class I wonder why everyone else isn't sweating like I am.0

I started monitoring my calories during balance a couple of months ago, during that period, whilst my overall average has gone way down - mainly because I've been going to other les mills classes like a maniac so my fitness has improved! - the calories have generally been very low. The highest I ever got was 350, during the previous release. The lowest I got was 120 in a very pedestrian but relaxing release from a long time ago....
It is a bit annoying, but I don't think of balance as a class where I'm going to gain vast amounts of calories, I try to just relax and think of all the benefits that Kasya mentioned. It has definitely helped my flexibility and leg strength though.
My balance class got cancelled today, so I did the New York City Ballet dvd workout today. Which in 50 minutes burned the grand total of 100 calories.0 -
I log it has 20 mins of each pilates, yoga, and tai chi so it's 195 calories/hour.0

You should google Les Mills bodyfow ...the website will give you an average calories count. It is over three hundred. This class isnnewnat my gym and I took it for the first time this week and it is a great workout. If you can get into body combat you will for sure burn more calories due to the fast cardiograph pace.0
