Tomorrow my fiancé's family is taking me to a Lebanese restaurant, I've never had that kind of food and have no idea what to get- I am trying to keep it under 600 calories. I looked at the restaurant's website and their menu but its all very new to me. What should I get?? Here is their website if it helps http://www.neomonde.com/cafe/menu/ Thank you SO much!!!

Try the kabobs or kibbeh. I would opt out of the bread although it's great. Also tabbouleh or hummus are yummy. Don't be afraid to ask for recommendTions. Tell them you are watching your diet and ask for a recommendation. There re lots of yummy options in middle eastern food!

Hummus with veggies instead of pita bread. They can bring you cucumbers, tomatoes, and bell peppers at the least.

    Fattoush salad.

    Rice-stuffed grape leaves.

    Lentil soup.

Moussaka, while delicious, is made with a bechamel sauce. Definitely not low calorie.
  • Almost all Mediterranean places have fantastic salads. You can eat a nice Greek salad, feta and all, with some grilled chicken on the side for under 600.

Unfortunately you have to stay away from my favorite - falafel on pita with lemon tahini. Sooo good but sooo fried!

Normally I'm all over the gyro sandwich with hummus and pita, but I agree, when I'm eating clean I never feel like I'm losing out when I eat a Greek salad.
