When I walk or run my ankles go inwards and it makes it painful after a while so I have to stop.
It's happened all my life and it's put me off excercising
Any advice?

go to a running store and have them analysis your gait. They will probably recommend a good stablizing shoe.

I have weak ankles to. i did some exercise that helped (gonna take some time) and also had some very good(and by that i mean expensive) ankle brace .

now i dont need the brace any more, but still do some of the exercises.
  • Overpronate and underpronate. It's the new words for flat foot or high arch. You need to purchase good support running shoes. "Runner's World" really helped me with this. I just bought light running shoes and thought that was all I needed, then I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. The physician also asked me if I rolled my ankles easily and then watched me run on a treadmill. My ankles also go inward. I didn't a lot of studying on overpronation and bought shoes with great support. No problems now!

I have flat feet too! My Podiatrist said iv not got the worst he's ever seen, but they are not good lol You can go to a running store and have them look at your foot to see what type of arche your shoe should have to support your foot, or go to a Podiatrist/Chropodist to have shoe inserts specifically made for your feet, thats what i did. Then any natural trainer fits as the inserts supports you, not the shoe.

Your doctor will have to refer you to a Podiatrist if they haven't already :)

What they said, for mine they recorded you running on a treadmill and they slowed it down and showed you which side you used too much of then showed me the shoes that I would want to fix the problem (I.e. have that much support in that I can't roll it or hurt it like you have) They have these at most high end running shops these days.
