Feeling lost at the gym...

I prefer jogging on a track, running, walking, weight lifting, classes, or bikes. I am not fond of the treadmill due to my being prone to equilibrium problems (when I get off I have trouble walking). I might try them at some point. I tried the elliptical tonight and did pretty well but I feel so lost! I did a level 2 for 15 minutes. Seemed pretty sad to me...but I did do 15 minutes on the bike ranging from 2 resistance to 16.

I just don't really know what to do :/ Any tips?

I am new to using things like ellipticals, etc. If you do try the treadmill, you've just go to stop the belt and stand there holding on for a minute to two until you get your bearings! I tried that stepmill today at the gym and I LOVED it! Burned 100 calories in 12 minutes! I will be doing that one again!
  • I usually start on the elliptical, warm up at level 2 for 5 mins then go up to level 6 or 7 for 10-15 minutes. Then I get on a treadmill for about 15-20. Try a rowing machine if you don't like the treadmill. Its great cardio while building upper body muscle. I only last about 5-10 minutes on that. Next head for some machines. I always find them easiest. They always have some sort of pictures or diagram on how to use them properly. Work your muscles in groups. I'll do legs one day, arms next, and then work on core the next. Or take a class! Boot camp is always a good one. Good luck :)

when I have days like that I try and do a little bit of everything while staying focused i.e. 15 mins on treadmil, 15 minutes on bike, and 15 on elliptical. Just add a little bit each week you will get into a groove.

    stick with it!

Try to get your heart rate around 60% of your max (220- your age is your maximum HR). As long as your heart rate is up, you are getting a decent cardio workout, no matter what resistance you are using.
  • Thanks everyone! Also thanks mcrowe1016 I forgot about that! :D
