I forgot part of my post last night. Here is the intro I forgot to paste from my clipboard!
In the spring of 2010, I had a terrible visit with my doctor. I had gone in for leg swelling and came home with a prescription for high blood pressure medication; a warning that I was "pre-diabetic"; and a challenge to lose 6 lbs. I went back in late summer and had lost 16 lbs by watching my salt intake and doing some light, regular walking. However, by fall, I had gained most of it back. At the same time, my friend at work told me about MFP and I finally decided to give it a try in late September.
At first, I was reluctant since I have never been a regular user of social networking and I hated counting calories. However, I am certain looking back that I could not have gotten this far without logging daily and support from the MFP community! For those of you just starting out, I would strongly suggest regular daily logging and as much cardio as you can stand. Start out small with simple short walks and keep with it. As the pounds come off, continue to increase you activity level doing whatever speaks to you! For me, running and biking have been my main staples so far. This year I am really trying to mix it up and try new stuff. Best of luck to everyone and thanks for reading!0 -
Thanks for sharing. Besides getting healthy, dropping pounds for fitness and feeling better about myself, I too hope to be running again before the year is out. Keep it up!0

awesome job...contratulations. It makes my 57 lbs to lose and run a mile seem insignificant ... but, that is my goal right now0

Thanks!
Benedict91 - no goals are insignificant! Best of luck on your goals - you can do it too!0 -
Someone asked in a PM...I am doing Cardio Kickboxing at my local park (for free!) 2x per week. It is taught by a certified NIFS instructor and is a lot of fun!0

Amazing!!! What has kept you going?0
