Kilometre-stones for metric-minded people....

The metric system rules! Seriously, it just makes more sense to measure everything (length, volume, weight) using the metric system. Easy! It's just 10x10 or 10x100 or similar! not 16 x 32 or something equally ridiculous!

I'm an Aussie, and here we do things the right way, the metric way. We measure volume in millilitres and litres (and we spell it properly for that matter), we measure length in millimetres and centimetres (note correct spelling), long distances in kilometres, not miles, and weight in grams and kilograms. It's all very simple.

So we measure our body weight in kilograms, or kilos, not pounds.

Now, don't get me wrong, pounds are great for seeing your weight LOST, for example I have lost 16 kilos, but a staggering 39 pounds! 39 is a way better number. But on the other hand, I only weigh 104 kilograms, as opposed to 228 pounds (I had to go to an online calculator to work that out, because imperial sucks).

Anyway, so 1 kilogram ROUGHLY converts to 2 pounds (exactly is 2.2 pounds). So there is always a lot of well-deserved chatter on MFP about ONEDERLAND. I love this play on words, it somehow makes the goal so much more fun (I think of a Disneyland type theme park when I see it), and it got me thinking, how far am I away from the magical 'Onederland'? Stupid imperial measurements strike again, not a round number. So how can i make it work for me?

Well 200 pounds is ROUGHLY 100 kilograms (further away for me than I thought, it's 90.9 kilos. damn that 0.2). So I thought I would make my metric Onederland under 100 kilos. But it needs a fancy, catchy, glittery name like Onederland. Then it hit me, I shall call it UNDERLAND! (under 100kilos!)

I'm probably not the first to see this, it is not a big stretch after all, but indulge me fellow MSU's (Metric System Users), embrace UNDERland!

*This post wasn't this long in my head, before I started posting. I agree, it should be a blog post. It's not. Deal with it. (Although I might double up)

I loooove your post! Was just thinking about it today how the metric system is sooo much better!
I kind of know what I weigh in pound now just because I had to convert it so many times for different challenges. But my height... like seriously.. who measures in FEET?!?! You'd have to measure first how long your feet are LOL :)

Yeah I like the Underland! Makes me giggle a bit because it makes me think of undies :)
