Hey everyone this is my first day using myfitnesspal. I heard some great things about this website. I was never able to join other weightloss programs because I am allergic to dairy and cannot eat many of the items they suggest. I am hoping this site will help me to lose at least 15lbs. I always have a hard time finding receipes and food on the go that does not contain dairy. I was wondering if anyone had any pointers?

    Hello!

    I'm also new here.

I'm a vegetarian, sometimes-vegan (I try very hard to avoid dairy). I eat nuts sparingly because of their high fat content. I get most of my protein from soy and legumes - lots of tofu and beans.

Grains like brown rice and quinoa (cooks really quickly, too!) also have a surprisingly high amount of protein. I would recommend reading "Becoming Vegan: The Complete Guide to Adopting a Healthy Plant-Based Diet" by Brenda Davis for really good information on protein sources.
