How long do you eat before a workout?

I know it more so depends on what you eat, and theres the whole 30 min before you swim saying. But how long do you have lunch or a snack before you workout and what does it usually consist of?

I am wondering because I am not hungry now but will be in 2 hours and for lunch I have a salad with grilled chicken.

i usually like to have at least 45 minutes or so, just to make sure I don't get a stomach cramp. I also don't drink water during my workouts either, not more than a sip or so for the same reason. I'm sure other people aren't bothered by it, but that's just my little rule to myself.
  • usually like an hour. I get really barfy if it's too close to my workout.

I don't eat before a workout. I go to the gym first thing in the morning and then have a nice protein-heavy breakfast afterward. Even if I eat something light, it makes my stomach sour when I work out...especially if I'm doing heavy weights.

Don't you get dizzy not drinking??

No...not really. I mean, i usually work out at night, so I've been drinking throughout the day and really well hydrated. If i'm at Zumba or something I'll drink about a quart afterwards, but not more than a sip or two during the class. Otherwise I can feel it sloshing in my tummy and I feel sick.
