Anyone living in Italy out there?

Hey! Anyone living in Italy out there? I'm and English and Spanish teacher. I'm Italian but currently living in Mexico. I know economic situation over there is difficul but I've been thinking about going back (this time with my husband). I've been away for so long that I don't even know how much things cost or anything anymore.

I'm hoping there are people living in Italy out there that can tell me how complicated things really are. How much do you think I would need to make to rent a small apartment and cover the basic expenses for me and my husband?
