Hello. I am looking for "buddies" who have lost weight before and looking to give it another go. People who are really willing to motivate each other and kick each other in the *kitten* when needed. I am not going to comment on your journal "good job" if you eat crap food and I expect the same from you. A friend and I are thinking of starting a small group. Weekly weigh-ins, support, ect.
I lost 110lbs when I was 20 on a fad diet and gained it back in less time then it took to loose it. I also lost 70lbs a year and a half ago and gained it all back. I am an emotional eater and that is my biggest challenge. I eat when I am happy, sad, ect. I've lost weight for the wrong reasons in the past.
This time I am loosing weight for me. It's a lifestyle change and I can NEVER EVER go back to my old ways. It's going to be tough, I know this all to well but the pay off will be worth it!!! I also have an awesome buddy who pushes me!!!
Have you lost weight before?
What will you do this time to make it different?
Would you be interested in joining a group?

While i am not typically worried at this point about weighing in weekly, I am happy to lend advice and support for those that are looking for a lifestyle change that they can maintain.
I gained 100lbs after getting out of the military 12 years ago after being in great shape as a kid, through high school and my time in the Army. After a year of being fat I knew I had to make a change and used Atkins to loose 105lbs in less than a year. I kept the weight off nearly effortlessly for about 3 years until I go into a high stress job and made some poor decisions and started eating junk again regularly.
Fast forward several years and I was nearly as heavy as I was the first time, but have gone back to a lower carb/paleo lifestyle to loose the weight. It's not coming off as fast as I'd like, especially like when I was 10 years younger, but it's coming off in all the right places, loosing only fat and maintaining my muscle. Clothes fit much better as well.
So to answer the questions:
1. I have lost 105lbs before, gained a good protion back from eating the Standard American Diet (SAD) and am now back on the path to loose weight.
2. What I will do different is to stick to a low carb/paleo lifestyle forever. It's much healthier, easy to cook for and the food is amazingly better than what I was eating. There may be occasional indulgences, but I will never go back to sugar grains and SAD ever again.
3. I wouldn't mind being in a group to help others get to their goals, and potentially open the world of low carb/paleo eating to those that are curious.0 -
I too have lost weight and gained some back and I am interested in having 'buddies' in the same boat.
I was overweight all of my life. Then decided it was time to get serious and get the weight off.
i worked really hard doing that through exercise and healthy food choices.
It took me just over a year to lose 100 lbs and then I lost another 25 lbs after that but have since put 50 back on and am working on getting it off again.
The weight goes back on so much easier / quicker than it comes off unfortunately.
I know it's time for me to buckle down and do this.
I am still working on the changes that I need to make to have it 'stick' this time.
One of my biggest challenges is that I work in my home so there is food around me all the time.
I also have a thin husband that eats whatever and whenever he pleases and STAYS SKINNY!!!!
GRRRRRRR.
LOL
I think belonging to a group of people with the same types of goals and challenges would really be helpful.0 -
It looks like we are all serious this time about making some life changes.
It's nice to know I am not alone, doing his again!!0 -
I have lost 80lbs and gained 30 back. I did Body for Life and am doing it again. My mistake last time was I just went back to my bad eating ways. This time I have learned from my mistake (hopefully) and do not plan on going back to my old ways. Would love to have support and give support.0

I think the key is losing weight in a healthy way that we can live with so that we can maintain it and be happy and enjoy the new life that we've given ourselves.
I don't want to lose the weight and then be miserable tying to maintain it. I want to lose it and enjoy it and enjoy life being active and healthy.
That's my ultimate goal.0 -
I have lost and gained weight over and over.
Biggest weight loss was a combo of WW + walking 5 miles per day and not eating my exercise points. It was crazy. But it let me know that my metabolism was messed up, possibly from years of taking diet pills. Anyway, I lost 33 pounds.
Guess what? I found them again!
So, here I am...counting calories. I've never done it this way before, but I'm giving it a whirl.
Good luck to you and I'm here to support you!0 -
Yes...sad to say. I lost 80 pounds previously in the late 80's and kept it off for 10 years and then gained about 40 back lost it again and 35 came back...but it's almost gone again!! Friend me if you want...love the houndstooth scarf!0

That's so true.
Getting this weight off and then living life to the fullest0 -
I lost about 35 lbs back in 2008 or 2009 through Nutrisystem and kept it off for about 2 yrs. THEN I got this gig in Vegas and I drank and ate like a superstar.... UGH and gained it back.
SO NOW I'm on the mission again.0 -
I've made a group for women who are getting this weight off once and for all. I will sent you and invite if you'd like.0

I would love to join your group. I have been working out for 2 years and have lost over 50 lbs. I am so ready for this to be my final "work in progress" year. I know what I need to do and am willing to in the hard work do it. I have always been a "chunky" girl. I am not looking to be supermodel skinney. I just want to be healthy and strong. :0)0

I've been there. I lost 80 lbs. over a year and a half about five years ago following Weight Watchers On-line. I then decided I didn't need to keep spending the money on their program. I tracked for about 6 months after getting to my goal, then thought I had my lifestyle set. Well guess what, I put 40 pounds back on over the following 3 years. Some medical issues and effects of medication
didn't help. I have found the discipline of portion control and tracking intake and exercise is something I need in my life to maintain my weight. I'm a nurse practitioner and "know" what to do. I even prescribe Weight Watchers to my patients. One of my self-described "cheapskate" patients who also dropped Weight Watchers On-line cued me in to this program. I figure I have to get serious and get the weight off to have any credibility with my the patients in my practice.0 -
I sent invites!!0

I'm on board too! I lost 43 pounds 3 years ago after my mom (only 52 at the time) had her 3rd heart attack and needed a pacemaker put in. I didn't want to be like that in 20 years. I lost the weight and felt great. I got a little too comfortable and got back in my old ways of comfort eating and eating too much of the foods that were unhealthy. So I've gained all the weight back plus 10 more over the last few years. I'm so disapointed in myself that I let myself get big again. I started feeling old and tired and achy- at 34 I shouldn't feel that way. I'm ready to get back on track though! I've lost 10 pounds since mid Dec and I hope to lose 60 more. I'm aware now that this needs to be a lifestyle and I can't ever get too comfortable. Maybe once I lose the weight I'll allow myself one cheat day a week. Anyway, it would be great to have motivation and support from people that know how I feel.0
