I'm 6'1 and weigh about 160lbs. Today I did some heavy weight training and decided to lift up on the protein. I had about 150g of protein today and in worried if I continue doing that routinely (every day) if it would cause kidney/organ damage?

From what I've read protein alone doesn't cause kidney damage. I have kidney disease but as a result of genetics and of course bad diet. You should have blood work done and your doctor will tell you if your creatinine levels are a concern. But your young unless you are having oter issues like high blood pressure and blood sugar issues.

This pretty much sums it up. If your using supplements such as Whey powder to get your protein intake, you probably have a pretty high amount of creatine in your system which is what you should be concerned about. WhiIe bulking for bodybuilding, I normally take in close to 300 grams of protein a day, but I make sure to stay away from the powders due to all the extra crap they toss in them. I also have blood-work done every six months to make sure I am healthy and all that good stuff.

Like they say, before switching your diet plan - check with your doctor.

This is one of those myths that will be around forever, Flex magazine, muscle and fitness, fitnessRX for men all do something on this once a year. You will be fine, drink lots of water and if you feel the need, get checked.

However, if you already have kidney disease it is felt that a high protein diet can accelerate the rate of progression. Because early kidney disease can have few if any symptoms, probably wouldn't hurt to have simple blood work and urine test done.
