Depends on intensity but I have burned 200+ cals in the past,
  • Depends on your intensity, how much muscle mass you have, your gender, age...MFP granted me 320 calories for a 45-minute session.
  • Using a heart rate monitor I've burned up to 720 cals but the class was a b***h and I thought I was gonna have a heart attack...!

Edit: MFP gave me 340 cals for that same session!!!!

Using a HRM (Polar FT7) - I have been burning an average of 850 calories in a 55 minute session of Spinning.

The class is a moderate to intense level w/ lots of interval training . . .

I used a HRM and burned 410 in a 45 minute class two weeks ago. It was a class with lots of intervals too.

MFP has allotted me as much as 480 calories for a 45 min spin class.... but a HRM would probably be more accurate.. I need one myself!!
  • I can only Spin for 20mins at the moment and burn roughly 350 calories!

Depends on intensity, weight etc, but I average about 14 cal/minute in a typical class with my HR in the 75-85% range. I use a Polar Fit11 to track.

I used Spinning and Sets classes that my gym offers to lose a majority of my body fat. I miss it. :(

    Wait, no I don't. :)

I did spinning twice this week. On Monday it was an hour and I burned 743 and yesterday was 45 minutes and I burned 542. I wear an HRM and I push it to the max. When the instructor tells us to up our intensity once, I do it twice. I love the workout, I try to spin 2 or 3 times per week.

The only way to be a accurate is to wear a heart rate monitor.

I burned over 800 calories in 2 hrs. I did 90 minutes of spinning and about 1/2 hr of circuit training. With that said, the heavier you are the more calories you burn. I'm sure I'd burn more calories than someone that's 125 lbs. :)

I am 285 pounds and my instructor is psychotic (in a good way) and I burn between 800-900 calories in a 45 minute class. Definitely will depend on how much resistance you use, your body weight, and what the instructor has you do. For example, this instructor has us doing fast jumps (up out of the saddle, then back down alternating) and pretty intense intervals. I took another class which I considered easier and I still burned like 700.

Awesome that you are going to do it, I am loving it so far. :) Definitely you will want to get a HRM because once the class is done it is such a feeling of accomplishment because of the intensity, you will want to write that calories burned number down and be proud of it!!
