I had to post as this is really genuinely helping me stay off junk food treats! My husband has got me hooked on date syrup. I am using it in every way possible to replace sugar, it is just as sweet but packed with nutrients.
Fancy a milkshake ? Try rice milk with date syrup.
Like sugar on your breakfast cereal? Replace with a drizzle of date syrup!
You can substitute it in baking, cooking (i teaspoon in bolagnaise sauce is fab) it's an all round great sweetener.
I had been using a lot of honey but found it too sickly as a substitute in some meals.
I am having a small glass of organic rice milk and date syrup when sweet tooth pangs hit post evening meal, and also as a recharge after a work out.
Found this on a date syrup site;
"Did you know dates have more potassium ounce for ounce then a banana? Forget about stuffing your cheeks like a monkey to get rid of those post-workout cramps! Instead enjoy some delightful date syrup in a protein shake, smoothie, or on its own, and enjoy every sweet bit as it absorbs into your system like sweet nourishment. Dates are also a great source of iron and magnesium as well as an excellent source of energy without adding a speck of anything to them. Use date syrup instead of high-sugar sports bars and drinks to replenish and recharge fatigued muscles."
Give it a try xx
