Well I found out this week my dad who had his dad die in his early 50s from heart trouble went to the hospital for heart pains last saturday. I spoke with him and he seemed to be doing fine, well I get a call from my Brother on Sunday that he has to have emergency surgery on Monday for a triple bypass to removed blocked arteries. I hear a lot of people say heart problems can be heredity, but I knew when I was growing up my dad didnt eat the best and the troubles were prob diet related. In the most recent years he had done great for himself, he lost weight and was eating good, but to find out these remnants of his old life still in his chest.
Well when I got this news it hit home for me, being overweight right now myself do I see me being in that hospital bed in 10-20 years and my kids growing up without a father?
Well to deal with the stress of all this going on.. what do I do.. Yep. Monday night I met with my personal trainer and had her whoop my butt.. I burned 1023 cals that night and came home feeling good knowing that the heart problems stop now...
Well yesterday I had to drive from Dallas to OKC to see my dad by myself, it was 2.5 hours one way, I had to make the trip alone.. I was scared I would blow my diet because past trips have been stopping at roadside mcdonalds and grabbing a burger and fries because it was there..
This time I planned ahead I packed snacks in the car and drove there and for lunch, I stopped at a sandwich shop and had a club sandwich with no mayo.. I still managed to log all my calories and after being over I went to the gym that night and worked the excess off.
I am proud of myself for how I dealt with this stressful week and I am hoping for still a loss.

  • Great Job on dealing with your temptations on the road trip as well.
I can relate to your situation though, it didn't take long for me to realize I was 20 years from that bypass surgery if I didn't change my ways. 24lbs gone already and its getting a little easier each day
