I have been on enough diets and I know my body well enough that I KNOW that too LITTLE fat in your diet can bring things to a halt in the GI tract. I eat SOOO lean and so LITTLE processed foods that I barely make it to the half way point in my daily recommended fat intake AND I only consume MAYBE 3/4 of my sodium.

Any suggestions for INCREASING my fat WITHOUT increasing calories?

Thanks

Well fat comes with calories, so you just have to rearrange your diet to fit those in. Nuts, avocado and olive oil is a great source of healthy fats. Also, if you exercise you can get more calories.

ps- 1200 calories is very low and most of the time, people really don't need to make themselves suffer by eating that little.

    Thanks psulemon!

I didn't think of adding nuts and avocado! (LOVE AVOCADO!)

At 1200 calories a day, I don't feel like I'm suffering too bad...then again, I must be if I keep going over!

I will try that. Thanks again.

There is no way to increase fat without increasing calories.

Stop eating the low fat and no fat stuff and go for full fat (cheese, butter, yogurt). Nuts (especially macadamia nuts) are a good source of fat.

Olive oil for salads (not good for cooking), coconut oil, butter, avocado are good, healthy foods to add in to increase your fat.

Fat is not only necessary to help keeps things moving in the GI tract. It is necessary for brain function, absorption of fat soluble vitamins and minerals..........

My question is, do you exercise? Also, what is your weekly weight loss goal?

You should start, it will allow you to eat a ton more calories. And is your MFP goal set to 1 lb or 2 lbs? If it isnt' set to 1 lb, you should look into doing that as it will give you a bit more calories.

BTW, when I say exercise, I dont mean the gym. it can be as easy or fun as xbox connect/wii, riding a bicycle, running, swimming, or practically anything that gets your body moving.
