Nook freaking out on exercise equipment???

I've been getting bored with my cardio routine, so I thought I would try and pass the time with my Nook. After I've been reading for about 20-30 mins. it starts freaking out. Turns pages on it's own, menu keeps popping up, etc. Anyone else having this problem? It's resting on the monitor, so I'm thinking it has something to do with the battery. I don't know, but it has been helping so I don't want to give it up just yet if I can find a solution.
