I am on 1200 cal /day but I am a little lost. I want to eat healthy but I am having difficulty reaching that goal.If I eat healthy I don't reach the calorie and if I eat whatever then I exceed the calorie. Can someone please post 5 day menu for that much calorie so I can get some idea of how to reach that mark. I am having difficulty putting it all together.

Can you post what you eat when you are eating healthy? Maybe from there we can offer items we eat to help fill out your meal plan.

I'm on 1270, and am not finding it too bad at the moment, but am off the alcohol for January, and am wondering if it will be so easy when I've got to count for a few glasses of wine on a Saturday!

  • Feel free to have a look over my food diary. The last couple of days haven't been so great, but before that it's much better.

Just a few thoughts I had when reading, but I lost 62 pounds last year (excluding cheat days such as my bday and christmas day!) and I ate at least 1500 every day? If i'm at the gym I sometimes eat 1800, and I still lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. I always thought that 1200 is too little to be eating everyday? I'm definitely not sure I could do it! I usually have that with breakfast and lunch then have a small dinner of around 300cals cos in the evening is when I'm less active. Does anyone think my weight loss would speed up if I ate less? Cos personally I think my body would just hold on to my weight if I ate that little.

You can take a look at my food diary.. I'm just getting back to logging everything so this week is a good example..
  • Here are some planned menus that might help:

    http://www.livestrong.com/article/22806-calorie-menu-plans/

Also, allrecipes.com has a 'healthy' section. You might be able to find some healthy, yummy recipes there. I also swear by skinnytaste.com
    http://allrecipes.com/Recipes/Healthy-Recipes/main.aspx
    http://www.skinnytaste.com/

I am also on a 1200 calorie day and I rarely meet or am under. Consider this though, for me my basal metabolic rate is about 1900 calories a day so I figure as long as I am under that value I am still ahead of the game. Here is a website to calculate your BMR (http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/)

    Good Luck!
