Where I learned to be healthy...

Over the weekend I realized a very key problem in my weightloss journey; no one around me knows how to diet and exercise efficiently to lose weight or be healthy.
My mom's diet plan includes a bowl of oatmeal in the morning and a ham/chicken sub. That's it.
My sister's diet plan includes no MORE than 500 calories and 3 days at the gym.
My boyfriend's diet plan consists of eating whatever he wants as long as he works out (ie, no loss and a lot of gain).
This is why I believe I can't diet correctly. I'm trying really hard but seem to give up too quickly. The way they diet they all see results really quick. I never do.
Weight loss isn't supposed to be about quick and easy but it's hard to remember that when I hear about how much they have all lost (even though it's not a healthy way)
Any advice?

Sure they lose it fast...
You lose it slow doing things the right way, you learn portion control and how to maintain...
They come off their lose it quick scheme and gain it all back plus some.
You will still look good and can eat almost anything you want in moderation.
I say set yourself a small goal... Like in a month if i can lose 10 pounds by watching calories and doing some exercise (go to gym with sis and boyfriend), then i dont need a get skinny fast scheme.
Have some faith in yourself... YOU CAN DO IT!!!!0 -
When mom & sis go off their "plan" do they gain weight back?? That is why they are diets. You really need to aim for a lifestyle change - then the weight will come off, slowly but in a healthy manner, and STAY off!!! Then you don't have to worry about "going on a diet" anymore but you can live healthily every day. Remind yourself that, yes it will take you longer, but it will stay off this way! Plus, in years to come, they will still be going back to their "plan" and you will be healthy!0

Maybe you shouldn't think about it as dieting but as a lifestyle change...yeah you probably have heard that before but it seems to work..If you want a real back to basics approach check out Tosca Reno at toscareno.com or look up her clean eating diet, it is alot like ww "core diet" but she approaches not only your diet but the gym (fitness) as well. I love her and she has changed my life..0
