Modify or start over later?

I'm two weeks into Insanity (the workout program - the other one I've had my whole life) and this morning while jogging I fell and hurt my arm. It hurts like a mofo - bad enough that I went to the doctor. It's not broken but will be a couple of weeks before it's healed.

Do I continue doing Insanity and just skip the parts that put direct pressure on my arm until it's good to go or do I skip Insanity and start over from the beginning when my arm is better?

I don't want to half-*kitten* it but if I'm still going to get good results without the push-ups I'll keep going with it.

Thanks!

I have never done Insanity. I have, however, done the Firm and had hurt my shoulder while doing it. I seriously thought I pulled my shoulder out, it hurt so bad. I did go to the doctor. He recommended that I keep doing it but modify the moves for 2-3 weeks and myself time to recuperate rather than stop completely.

Just noticed you mentioned push-ups. The Firm had push-ups too, I didn't do them for a couple weeks.

    Start Over.

And in the meantime, do other things that don't require you to be able bodied like swimming, walking or aerobic dance.
    That's what I'd do.

If you are sweating and burning more than you are taking in, you are doing great. (If you want to lose.)

    Good luck.

What are your other options? What did your doctor say about it?

If it was either do the workout or don't do anything, I'd modify and do what I could. If you have another work out that you are able to do in the mean time that doesn't use your arms, like walking, I'd do that instead.

I find that if I don't do any sort of workout for more than a few days, I lose momentum and I turn into a sloth. If I do *something* even for only 10 minutes or so, it keeps me in the healthy mindset that I need to be in.

I have lots of other options I just am really liking Insanity. I'm also jogging about 3 times a week (which is what I was doing when I got hurt). The doctor said just to take it easy on my arm until it feels better.

I hate to stop something once I have a head of steam built up (I've worked out at least 6 days a week for the past 6 months so that I wouldn't lose that head of steam and say screw it) so I'm leaning toward modifying Insanity and pusing through. I may give it a shot and see how it goes tomorrow and adjust from there.

    I appreciate everyone's input.

I'm not familiar with The Firm. Did you still get good results having modified it for a couple of weeks?

I'm leaning more and more toward modifying and keeping up with it until I can fully use my arm. I can always do the whole program again or parts of it or start over later. I just like to stick to something once I've started it. I made a schedule and everything. I'd hate to have to scrap my schedule after I spent all those minutes putting it together

I did get good results still. GREAT? No, but in modifying the moves, your results obviously won't be the same. It could have been way better had I not screwed my shoulder up. *LOL*

I'm glad I took the doctor's advice and modified.

    Update:
I went ahead and did my Insanity workout this morning. I rotated through high knee/butt kicks/run in place instead of exercises putting pressure on my arm to keep moving. One exercise I just skipped altogether. Still got a hell of a workout and was able to work my legs and core so I think this is going to work fine. There's nothing I'm going to be able to do for my upper body for the time being anyway so ....... so there.
