I have heard people say "I have tried everything", or the "I just cant lose weight no matter what I try". Their are a million excuses you can come up but excuses wont fix the problem!

I can honestly say, God gave me a lot of unique features, but one thing he didnt give me is patience ; however, I have been sticking with it! I have lost 75-80 pounds since Jan 1st of last year YEA!!! How did I do it? Simple... I looked at this as a LONG TERM GOAL! I realized that I would fail from time to time. I realized that I need to ask people questions. I realized that I am a human being! I try to not be too hard on myself (hahaha, my friends on MFP will probally tell you this is another thing God didn't give me)!

You will fall, you will indulge, you will fall off the bandwagon! You are your own boss when it comes to your body. Treat it like a temple! Exercise regularly! DONT GIVE UP!!! If you do fall, dust yourself back off and dont look back. Make a day as a 'cheat day' - 'rest day' - whatever you call it so you can eat the things you like that are unhealthy. Most people fail when they think they cant have foods they like at all or they set too unrealistic goals. For instance, going from a couch potato, greazy burgers and fries to a veagan diet while working out hard 7 days a week - overnight - is something most people could not achieve. Set small goals that are very easy to achieve and have a schedule that is not too difficult. When you smash those goals it makes you strive harder!!! Also, make a pact with yourself that if you cant come home after a workout with a smile on your face, you probally pushed yourself too hard!!!

I have changed my mindset. When I was fat, I could tell you when I ate a healthy meal because I ate them rarely. Now, I can tell you the last unhealthy thing I ate (Pizza--- yum!!), because now I eat 10 or more healthy meals to one bad one. Think of weight loss like quitting smoking. You have to give up your addictions and change the way you think. Its a process and it does not happen over night.

ASK QUESTIONS CONSTANTLY! This will keep your eyes on the goal. Work out regularly - no matter how simple, just keep that body moving and dont be one of those people who lose all the weight then think you have got it all figured out now. Those people wake up one day heavier than the day they first started the journey.

Subscribe to fitness magazines and READ THEM! This will keep you motivated and they have great tips.

I know I am rambling but most people who have a new years resolution of weight loss have given up within 2 to 3 weeks after the first. Dont be that person. Keep at it - even if you have done everything right and 6 months you havent lost an ounce! One day - it will come off! Thanks for reading this and happy weight loss  God bless you on this tough but rewarding journey!!!

I started out running (if you call it that) in April of last year. I couldnt even do a mile. Now I am at 30-35 miles a week and I LOVE it!! Training for my 2nd marathon in New Orleans! WHOO HOO!!!

Wow, that was a lot of weight lost! Congrats! I know I've wanted to give it up before. 15 pounds was more or less easy. Since then,, I've been bouncing on and off 5 pounds for months. It's really frustrating but I know if I quit, I'll just gain it all back and more. It's not just about the weight too, it's a lifestyle, about feeling good, and not getting that "ugh" feeling after eating too much junk food combined with that wonderful after-workout feeling. Nice post!
