Still Not Happy

I've been going to the gym every day, watching what I eat and HAVE been losing weight...which is great...however, I am still not happy with the way my body looks.
I guess I have a picture in my mind of how I want to look, and its not turning out that way. I know I should be happy for losing the weight, but Im a bit discouraged...I still look awful in clothes.
Part of me wants to give up and thinks Im wasting my time.
Does anyone else have this crazy feeling too??

I do, I've lost 63 lbs and can still not stop griping about my thighs. None of my body parts look perfect to me. I doubt they ever will. I think it's a woman thing... we all seem to do that... obsess over how we look versus how we want to look.0

nikki, it will take time to shape your body. And like kerri said, there might still be areas you aren't happy with. But if you quit it will only get worse. Especially as you age. I am 49 and look better and am in better shape than my sister who is 2 years younger. The longer you wait the harder it gets.
It's easier to keep up your body than to let it go and try to get it back.
Keep working out. It does make a difference.0 -
Wow Kerri.....63 lbs lost ...that is GREAT!! CONGRATS!!
I'm afraid Im either going to give up or get to the point where I don't eat ..Im already obsessed with going to the gym every day..its like I can't stop.0 -
It sounds like your body image is off, not your actual body. In which case, nothing you do will ever make you happy, there will always be fault with your body. It's like when anorexics think that they're fat - their body image is off. I would do some deep exploration to find out if it's really your body that has problems, or your "mind" image of yourself.0

The "perfect body" is not a reasonable goal for someone who cannot devote all of her time to it. And why should you? You have other important things in your life that give you satisfaction, like that darling boy with the frosting on his face!
If you respond to dissatisfaction with your body by starving yourself or exercising to the point of injury, you are putting at risk other aspects of your life that make you happy. I am virtually certain that your little boy would not love you more than he already does if you have a "perfect body," but he would be sad if you hurt yourself trying too hard to get it.
I agree with Adopt4: some "deep exploration" is in order. And not just whether there's a gap between where you are and what you want to look like, but also what you think will happen when your body is as you desire. What benefits do you think there will be? Then compare it to the cost of getting there. There may be better, healthier ways to get the benefits you're after without hurting yourself or someone else.0 -
